News and Events

2020 SCTA/RCPA Annual Report
We began 2020 with a vision for transportation sales tax reauthorization and robust response to the climate emergency. Little did we know how challenging the year would actually be. The combination of the pandemic and an intense fire season made 2020 a year like no other for many residents. However, there was some good news with voters approving the Go Sonoma Act, and the RCPA following up the 2018 Greenhouse Gas Inventory with a Draft Climate Mobilization Strategy calling for carbon neutrality by 2030.  |  Read the annual report

SCP EverGreen-Local Resource Plan
Sonoma Clean Power (SCP) invites the public to attend their 2nd Public Workshop for the EverGreen-Local Resource Plan. The workshop will continue the conversation about the future development of more local renewable energy sources, including the more technical aspects of the EverGreen-Local Resource Plan (covering the forecast energy use of EverGreen customers, hourly energy use modeling, and other resource considerations).  |  Register for the 1/12 workshop from 12-2PM

Climate-Safe California
The Climate Center is partnering with the Local Government Commission to lead the Climate-Safe California Campaign. The Campaign lays outs a path to net-negative emissions by 2030 in California and includes targets and solutions that are consistent with the latest climate science. If adopted by the state, it will support the implementation of the Sonoma Climate Mobilization.  |  See pg. 161 of the agenda for endorsement recommendation

Draft Report on Wildfire GHGs
The California Air Resources Board (CARB) has released a draft report on Greenhouse Gas Emissions (GHG) from Contemporary Wildfire, Prescribed Fire, and Forest Management Activities and is seeking public comment. This report presents state-wide estimates of GHG emissions from wildfires and prescribed burning activities spanning 2000 to 2019 - along with changes to carbon stocks associated with timber harvesting and thinning. You can email your comments or questions to Anny Huang by February 28, 2021.  |  Read the report

EVs are getting more affordable! The California Air Resources Board's new program allows drivers to get an instant reward of up to $1,500 off the purchase or lease of an eligible new electric vehicle. This is an additional incentive on top of the California Clean Vehicle Rebate of up to $4,500 and the Federal Tax Credit worth up to $7,500. SCP also offers free charging stations to maximize savings for going electric. Learn more
